The sky was nearly cloudless this night, a rare sight to see in Gadre'el. The usually overcast horizon was a smooth sheet of velvet blue, peppered with crystalline stars that managed shed a pale--but not wholly unpleasant light on the city below.
A lone figure perched silently atop what appeared to be the tall spire of a church. Thin in build, the shadow balanced with an inhuman grace, only one foot having actually been placed on the structure, the other resting lightly against the ankle.
At that moment, a light breeze drifted past, causing a few pieces of his clothing to ripple gently. With a soft smile at nothing in particular, Casper shifted his head to the side as a few stray pieces of fair blond hair whipped at his face. As the wind died down, the tattered gray scarf that he wore around his neck settled across his shoulders, and the pale boy leaned forward on his risque perch with child like curiousity..right before he leaned back, and pushed off.
He remembered falling for the first time. For one who still so closely remembered being human, it had been an exhilarating, if overwhelming feeling. New, but wonderful.
As he fell, Casper turned swiftly in the air so that he was no longer upside down, hands still shoved carelessly in the pockets of his loose collared shirt. But the boy landed easily, and there was no shake, no crash no sound. Still smiling up to his eyes, Casper touched down to a lower rooftop; as light as a feather, in spite of the height in which he'd dropped from. And without breaking a step, swept a small rucksack from some hidden culvert onto his shoulder and jumped lightly to the neck rooftop.
The vampire had arrived in the city sometime earlier that night, though he hadn't bothered to keep an exact time. And he had presented himself at the gates..well.
Tilting his head at the idea, Casper pursed his lips thoughtfully. Technically he had gone there first..and he had waited for quite some time..but still, there had been no..welcome, if it could be called that. But as far as Casper could remember, it was his first time venturing into the city. Even through all this time, he had been avoiding it.
Smiling, Casper whistled a short, cheery tune.
Oh well.
