Name: Hollow
Description:
A humanoid creature that is deeply possessed by a malignant, inanimate object, such as a puppet, weapon, spirit or in some cases, another person, usually a mage or something similar. You can tell a hollow from your average human or elf by their eye pattern: Berserker Hollows have two crossed swords visible in their eyes, whereas a Cleric Hollow would have the holy cross patterned into their orbs. A Sniper Hollow will have a crosshair pattern, and the most powerful of hollows to be discovered yet, dubbed King Hollows, have the image of a king chess piece reflecting off their eyes for all to see. The other way of distinguishing a Hollow from a normal creature is through their skin: A Hollow will always have a strange black pattern infesting their eerily colourless skin; the deeper they are possessed by their spirit/object, the more prominent the pattern will be. Again, the Hollow type can be distinguished by pattern: Berserkers have a thunder pattern, as if black streaks of lightning have been etched down their skin, and Clerics have a splash pattern, like if blotches of ink had been splashed all over it’s body. Snipers have a broken glass pattern, jagged shards of charcoal glass corrupting their skin, and Kings have a flame pattern from the bottom up, like their body is half engulfed by black fire.
Hollows usually travel in pairs with their possessor, but a few sightings of four or five Hollows in a pack have been reported, usually led by a King Hollow, who seemingly has limited power over others of its kind. As much as a Sniper or Cleric hollow will listen to a King, they only ever yield to one power: Their possessor. Because of this, fear is almost irrelevant to them if it contests their objective, making them ideal soldiers. However, nearly all hollows are controlled by an evil presence, and thus have a reputation to be tools of death. If their master/mistress is dormant, they are permitted free will until their master awakens again. Some see this as the only opportunity to break a Hollow from its bonds, whereas others exploit this to add their own shackles to the already imprisoned creatures.
Possible Areas:
Anywhere in utter darkness
