She sat at the very top of the mountain, her chin resting on her hand, the elbow of that hand resting on her knee. By top of the mountain, this means the very peak, sitting on the exact highest point, her backside seated squarely on the highest few centimeters of snow in the region. It hadn’t melted, even in summer, for the air was so dry and cold that it had enough left to smother each and every rock from sight. The dark angel had ventured there, sitting pretty if that would be the correct term, and quietly considered the ire of earth. How could such insignificant mortals provoke such trivial matters into perspective? Why were the angels supposed to protect them? They had no use in her eyes, everyone’s problems would be solved if they simply faded from existence. Without humans, angels wouldn’t need to protect them from demons; without humans, angels wouldn’t have to conceal their identities so not to encourage their hunting instincts. They really were a simple race.
Ido did not shiver even as a faint wind blew, scattering more snow from around her in a whirlwind and sending it in a tornado-like pattern around her. She looked up to the sky, wondering if the Wind Elemental was toying with her, only to find nothing. The divinity closed her eyes, sighing irritably and not bothering to waste her effort on destroying the pestering snowflakes. If bad fortune wanted to punish her, so be it; she had plenty to be sorry for. She sinned, constantly, every living moment come to think of it, but not through her actions. She was envious, jealous of the Elementals who played a more . . . respected role, if that was the word. She was older than all of them, had met the previous angels who played their roles and had respected them a deal more than the lackeys who’d taken over. No one thought that heaven needed a Dark Angel though. Darkness was for hell, and in some way it was like she represented that place, even if in a small way, around her peers.
And so she sat at the very top of the mountain, reflecting.

He observed the girl from a fair distance away, looking; unlike her, at least out of place on the cold and dour mountain top. A brisk wind drifting past, blowing his already spiky hair in gentle disarray.
His posture was lax, almost slumping. Hands casually stuffed in the pockets of simple gray pants, his shoulders were set forward with most of his weight put on his right side. His clothing was another point of un-interest, merely a simple brown sweater with long sleeves and a large collar that exposed his pale shoulders. Strapped to his back were two crossed swords that hooked to a curve at their ends.
All in all, everything about him was completely unsuited for the climate. But the cold didn't really seem to bother him. In fact, he seemed to be surrounded by the almost warm crackle of static, the loamy, earthy scent that came just before a lightning storm.
"Contemplating the mysteries of life?" He asked suddenly, in what might have been a mildly amused tone. But Raito was more curious then anything else. The Elemental knew who she was of course-- he might have met her in the past, albeit briefly. Still gloomy, still brooding. Typical of the Darkness Element.
Raito closed his golden eyes with a light grin, tilting his head to the side sheepishly. "Though I have to admit, if I were you I would have chosen a place with a bit more..atmosphere. "
The Lightning Elemental opened his eyes again and shrugged. "But, to each there own."

Why did she always have to be disturbed? Not exactly in a foul mood but wondering why bad luck seemed to follow her everywhere she went, the angel turned her head with utter stiffness, slowly twisting to look at, lo and behold, an elemental. The drunk one. The fierce gray eyes narrowed instantly as she gave him a scrutinizing once over, saw his swords were sheathed and that he didn’t have a bottle in hand, and decided to allow him within ten feet of her. “Everything has an explanation,” she retorted quietly, wondering if he’d chosen to ask because of her rather melancholy expression.
She stood up, not tall but rather foreboding in a twisted way, and walked towards him. It took her a moment to realize he might’ve been using a pun, normally because those who saw her mistook her for the Angel of Death and spoke with utmost politeness lest they fall into bad favor. This was, after all, another Elemental however, and they might’ve thought it gave them more lenience when it came to teasing. The black haired entity came face to face, not smiling, and stared up with a blank expression. “I like it up here because it’s quiet,” she started, but continued with a small dark grin as she began to circle him tightly. “The danger is pretty awe inspiring too, I suppose. No one would hear the scream of someone slipping, and the slopes are oh, so … steep,” she added, allowing the last three words to slip off her tongue with peculiar clarity. She lingered at his back for a moment, considering, before stepping in front again and beginning to walk away. “I take it you’re not up here because the air below isn’t fresh enough,” she stated, somehow posing it as an inquiry. So far, every word she’d said had been quiet, emotionless and slightly haunting, but now it was time for Raito to speak up. If he would play, so would she, but we never said it’d be fun.

Mentally, Raito grinned to himself for at least garnering her attention. And by the oh so pleasant look on her face he could also probably guess what she was thinking about in regards to him.
"I suppose it does." He replied in a rather upbeat manner, the grin still on his face. It wasn't a sly expression at all, but it wasn't entirely a smile either.
"But then again, it doesn't mean everything has to be explained." Oh, had he said that out loud? "That just takes all the fun out of things."
The Lightning Elemental watched as she moved toward him, hands still in his pockets. His manner was still one of relaxed indifference, but he turned his head to follow her as she circled him. But the Angel still had the gall to sweatdrop lightly as she 'kind of' subtly threatened him, his smirk more sheepish then ever. He even managed to chuckle shortly at it, whether she wanted him to or not.
Grinning, Raito pulled his hands from his pockets and held them up in mock defense. "You'd guess correctly." The Angel said, pulling his hands down so they hung at his sides. "But do I really need a reason?" He asked, and absentmindedly ruffled his spiked hair.
"Because if I do, you can just say I was in the area." Hell, if she was going to be little miss ray of sunshine then he could definitely(or at least try to) match it. Then again, they all seemed to have personalities in tune with the Elements so it's not like he hadn't expected it already. Still, for some reason it was mildly irksome.

He wasn’t making sense to her, considering she hadn’t instigated that everything needed an explanation, or that doing so would be fun. It gave a bit of insight on what a direct individual he was dealing with, one who didn’t like toying over such insignificant matters. This reply earned him a blank stare that could have been confused for incredulous, for the eyes had widened slightly and the pupils had dilated. Ido seemed to consider, calculation flashing momentarily before she decided not to finish the though and sat back down on her snow drift.
Raito could laugh all he wanted, it wasn’t going to make her any more approachable. In fact, when he chortled ( if lightly ) she concluded it as an act of insolence and in turn paid him very little respect, turning her back to him and flexing the solid black wings to create a small wall to stop him from coming in front of her without dipping down the slope a bit and potentially giving her a perfect opportunity to shove him down it. To understand her position, one must look at the manner of a mildly antisocial cat. The cat will not appreciate being stroked, but will allow someone to do so as long as they do it right and not for too long a time.
“You were in the area . . .” Ido repeated without turning to look at him. “What business could you have in the mountain ranges?” A new tone had entered the voice, a quietly demanding but warning note that left no room for nonsense. She wanted a straight answer, and we come back to the cat theory. Do it right.

Raito had to wonder if there was a more depressing person on the entire planet. The Angel had always been a sporadic burst of energy, like his element, but still always fairly upbeat. He cared about respect, though arguably less then most did and found it mildly annoying that she thought he had been disrespectful when she had been the one to imply shoving him of a cliff. Though it wasn't like he was much worried about that..he could fly after all.
The golden eyed boy watched with slight exasperation as she sat back down in an effective attempt at snubbing him. He was really starting to want a drink. Touchy and old fashioned..pfft.
Deciding to give her at least a half decent answer, Raito walked forward a few steps and leaned down with his hands shoved carelessly in his pockets.
"I had a orders to check something out in a town a little ways off. Finished what I needed to do, then decided to come up here for for some practice-" The Elemental shrugged and gestured at his swords. "Bu-ut. I sensed you here and decided to pop in and say 'Hi'."
The Angel backed off a bit, and grinned slightly. "Happy? Or do I get a cookie now?" He paused and sighed then, dropping down onto a small rock a few feet away and put on his most mopey expression and said in a falsely serious tone. "You see this? This is what you look like."
Raito rolled his eyes and placed his hands behind him on the rock, leaning back for support. Casually, he propped one knee up and rested his chin in the palm of hand. "So..you're just here for the scenery and silence then?" How..boring.

She despised games like this, despised the games this irritating comrade seemed eager to play. Why couldn’t they all be like before, strictly business and down to earth, without contamination from humans or alcohol. The previous Elementals, and yes she’d met them all, had been powerful and fearless; she assumed several of the newer generations as cowards, airheads, and fools.
At the word ‘practice’, Ido perked up from her slouching position, standing with great deftness and on the alert. Well, perhaps it wasn’t the image you imagined – actually, she’d stood up a little faster than normal and her bored, drooping eyes has flickered into a narrowed state of scrutiny, though she still hadn’t looked at him. Practicing what? Battle? Her lips twitched at the corner before settling into the trademark frown. She ignored most of what he said next, finding little amusement in his attempts at jesting. When he sat on the rock and made a face, she furrowed her brows and feigned ignorance. “I look like a rock with an ass on it? Fascinating.” Whether she spoke of him as an entirety or just his backside, her tone did not say.
“I’m also calculating the sun’s rotational degree to this point of the earth . . . you mentioned something about practice earlier?” She wanted nothing more to engage and get him into a more serious mindset; she hoped dearly that he took her interest as an invitation. It would be a good way to vent her exasperation at these new . . . intruders, if that was the word. She didn’t think herself any superior, really, or not in the ideal that superiority was, but she’d been around longer and had had plenty of time to hone her abilities – could they say the same? She finally turned around, the cold look still on her face, awaiting his reply and clutching the frightening looking staff tightly.

Raito could sense her annoyance easily, even if the Darkness Elemental didn't show it. He'd met enough people who had been irked at his persona to stop caring. It was who he was and he wasn't changing for anyone, just like he could guess that she wouldn't either.
He waited for her reaction to his excuse, mentally classifying her position as some form of pout. While the thought was amusing, he decided not to voice it out loud less she make good on her earlier threat.
But the spiky haired Angel grinned lightly as something he said seemed to catch Ido's attention, the smirk only becoming more mischievous as her normally stolid expression wavered...only for his head to droop in exasperation when she 'might or might have not' called him an ass. Figured.
And then she went of to say something that he was sure was just meant to confuse him. Which it did. But it wasn't like he was going to let her know that.
"Yes." Raito said, grinning when she finally started making sense to him again. So that was what it had been before. "Practice". The scruffy looking Angel almost laxly pushed his weight forward so that he rolled on the balls of his heels into a standing position, golden eyes lit with interest.
"Does that mean Mistress Morbid is feeling up for a...spar?" Raito used the term 'spar' loosely, calmly eying the way the Dark Angel clutched her staff with vigor. Following her example, the smirking Elemental reached behind him and tapped the the dagger-like blade on the end of one his his swords.

Alright, so maybe she did have some social issues, big ones, but it was all for a reason – having lived as long as she, one would understand her disdain for the unchanging humanity. They fought each other, as always, and the angels did their best to control the race; as usual, they failed mostly due to the vast numbers, something like ten thousand to one divinity. It didn’t help that most of the Elementals has something against each and every other, herself included. At least she had a reason . . .
Ido tried in vain to understand the glee he felt at having company but failed miserably, succeeding only in finding a few more reasons why someone like him should leave her alone. Why did he bother trying to ‘cheer’ her, if in a twisted way, when she’d proven herself a troubled being with little compassion for optimists?
The stoic angel crossed her arms, facing him with one hip jutting out and chewing her lip thoughtfully, a small fang grazing below the skin line. She hadn’t meant to confuse him in the least, it as actually what she was doing – calculating when the night would come for this region and how strong the darkness could be, when it would be disturbed by a new sun once more. She shook her head, the unique cut of her black hair brushing her shoulders – it wasn’t boyishly short, but it was an interesting contrast to your average long gold locks. Still, there was a feminine air to it.
Her interest became increasingly piqued, and soon her resolve slackened into a weak barrier between her desolate, lonely self and the one that wanted to prove who could stomp who. Of course, there would be no way that they could actually 'harm' each other (the definition of 'harm' could be traced to 'mortally wounded' for the Dark Elemental in certain circumstances), for doing so would shame them in the eyes of God, but there was no saying they couldn’t have a little . . . ‘spar’.
“The first one to immobilize the other is the victor,” she stated openly, leaving no room for argument. With this, she subtly tapped her foot on the ground, and instantly, a claw of such blackness it seemed impossible sprung up behind Raito without a sound, taking a single swipe before disappearing, trying to take him off his feet. The first one to immobilize the other would be the victor . . . but she liked playing as much as she liked proving herself.

Raito was just naturally a people person. Most of his early life had been spent in the company of humans-- he hadn't even known what he really was until sometime later. When he was young, the Elemental had been elated to discover that there were others like him and pushed himself to fit the position. But because of his unusual start to life, he had never really understood the elitist attitudes and the indifference that came with some of the Angels and other Elementals alike.
Everybody had their own problems, but Raito had always strived for them to never hold him back. So he drank a lot and he goofed off constantly, but in the end he still got the job done and did it well. But after all of it, he still managed to maintain some happiness at the end of the day. And that was good enough for him..almost.
His spiked hair wavered slightly as a light breeze blew through the area once more and the Angel tilted his head to the side as he watched her think. Grinning, Raito chuckled to himself at her stubborn pose. It was almost cute.
So she was competitive eh? Raito rocked on his heels, one hand already clasping the handle of one sword. But he was fine with the outlines of the spar..it wouldn't matter even if he wasn't.
When the claw made to swipe him off his feet, the Angel had already pushed himself back and flipped, planting his feet on a craggy shelf of rock behind him. One of his hook swords was out of it's sheath and crooked in the stone behind him and he hung on with an almost lazy, monkey like appearance.
Winking, Raito grinned cheekily. "Sneak." Pulling his sword free, the Angel spun it in hand and the metal came to life with a light charge of electricity. Smirking instead, he slashed the sword forward and sent a bolt of condensed lightning at her.

Alright, so maybe he wasn’t as stupid as he looked. Ido watched with mild interest as he evaded her ‘attack’ successfully, even flashing a weak smile ( with about as much glee as your average graveyard) when he commented on the stealth. He was quite agile, but she was no stranger to deftness either – she didn’t even bother moving when he shot the undercharged lightening, no. She held up her hand and moved it in a circular motion – a thick stroke of darkness followed her palm - and the lightening bolt drove right through the black matter, only to stop at a dead halt on the other side, the electric attack enveloped in a thick, impenetrable shadow. The Elemental of Darkness raised her hand and grabbed the crackling black static fearlessly, gazed at it thoughtfully, and flicked it back.
This wasn’t all she did, of course. As soon as her touch left the newly charged bolt, she jumped forwards and slashed her staff in a violent way, sending several black rope-like figures through the air. Leaning back onto her heels, she came skidding forwards feet first, aiming to take out his ankles; if the ropes had missed and she could get him off his feet, fine. If she could get him in the energy draining ropes and off his feet, even better. So she wasn’t an overly( I use this term loosely ) physical fighter, but when they weren’t allowed to harm each other in the way that she was ultimately very able to do with her magic, it made sense to make more contact that could be repaired by the nearest medic.
short ^^;

There it was. Even if it was a faint, it was still a smile and that was what he wanted to see. It just figured that it took the prospect of an ass-kicking to get it out though. Pssh. He quickly drew his second blade.
Narrowing his golden eyes competitively, Raito moved and shifted one sword forward forcing the dark charge to flow down the hooked blade as if it was a small lightning rod. Wincing slightly, he managed to redirect what was left of the static trough his own body and up the other sword, and whipped it back on her, layering on another shock of blue lighting on the backlash.
The Angel's eyes widened as the black tendrils came his way. Raito made an attempt to dodge the dark ropes, but still ended up stumbling slightly. Though, he wasn't going to let that mess him up, and managed to place a hand on the ground and push himself back up on in deft handspring before he hit the ground.
Landing in a crouch, Raito crossed his swords as a crackling blue light built up around him, and the Elemental blurred toward the dark Angel. Spinning on his heels, he brought both hooked blades in an upward slash at her staff in an attempt to knock it away, under-charged electricity flowing through the blades.

What more could you expect from a dark Angel? The spite, ferocity and downright coldness that the Elementals lacked ( at least, all three at once ) had been donned on the sacrificial lamb of the group, the ‘holy’ individual that might have turned out different. She simply did not feel like a worker of God, she felt like the identity in which all the collective darkness from the angels had been graced upon. Perhaps this was where the envy, the jealousy, the detest had spawned from. Raito caught her return of power, seemed unfazed for the most part, and sent it back one more time after allowing it to travel through his blade and back out towards her. In a show of speed and good reactions, Ido had ripped off one of her fingerless gloves during this process and held out her bare hand just in time to show it, palm first, at the newly charged bolt. Of course, it would have hit there had there not been a gaping hole in her hand, a perfectly black circle , that began sucking in air with great force the second she revealed it.
Rocks from several meters away flew from the icy clutch and zoomed towards her; the hole swallowed the lightening though it grazed the side on the way in and the angel got a shock equivalent to sticking a fork in the toaster. She didn’t have much time to think of this, because now several rocks the size of a human head were soaring in her direction – she thrust the glove back on and ducked, avoiding all with ease but remembering why she didn’t use that particular ability very often. It was fortunate that she had good coordination, for the Elemental of Electricity was darting for her, blades wielded openly. She braced for impact and met the crossed blades with a jerk, her feet slipping an inch or two back. The electricity from the swords was, while diminished, flowing down the staff and into her arms, and the angel grit her teeth fiercely, fangs bared, the corners of her lips lifting knowingly. Suddenly, in the heat of the pushing, she let go. The staff soared high in the sky and remained there, suspended in a perfectly upright position, the sunlight catching the red stone and glittering threads. This was all, of course, while she’d used both of their momentums to get nice and personal, fearlessly leaning in and grasping for his face or neck, his shoulder even. She forced the dark weight she carried into her hand, an unbearable weight she bore spiritually that could be made physical as it was now, and made to force it into his body, something that would make it impossible for him to move let alone attack if it worked.

Raito grit his teeth as the fierce wind from the dark tunnel washed over him, whipping his already messy hair into further disarray. Her narrowly kept himself from being brained by an air borne stone, but still the corners of his lips twitched as she was faintly shocked.
The Elemental pushed forward with his blades, hoping to unbalance the other Angel. He kept the bleak electric current flowing, hoping to at least stun her, or impose some minor paralysis.
His eyes widened when her staff was suddenly released and flew skyward and the Raito only held the handles of his sword tighter. When she gripped his shoulders he made to bring his blades up and push her off him-if it wasn't for the sudden burst of..something that made him feel like a ton of lead had just dropped on his chest. Suffocating. Raito couldn't see it but he knew it was there because..it actually hurt.
And now he had to make a move before he completely lost all feeling in his limbs. Narrowing his eyes, the Elemental tried to hook his lower leg around hers and use his weight to send them both of them tumbling to the ground.
But before he did, the Angel let a small smirk come to his lips and leaned forward, successfully tapping his forehead on hers, made easy because of the close position.
"Bonk." Raito mumbled, feeling the weight bear down on him, and let a charge of electricity flow through the connection.

This was just a taster, just a few decades from the centuries she’d seen, just a drip of ink in the water and yet it was so obviously potent, so destructive. She didn’t dare leave more on his shoulders lest it crush his body from within ( though she would have felt no regret in doing so in different circumstances, sadly ) and so she merely pushed with physical power to send him down.
Ido should have guessed that the Elementals wouldn’t have been as immediately overtaken as regular foes. She’d been rather clueless when he leaned in, only having time to bare the fanged teeth and widen the flashing blue eyes before they knocked heads. She was sent reeling in pain, the electricity having been quite potent considering the closeness to her brain. She broke the connection with a furious and almost feral growl, recoiling and winding up like a threatened snake before wrenching forwards again, aiming to connect foreheads in a much more violent manner, ergo the purely physical pain in result.
Still dazed by the recent shock, she barely registered the fact that there was a leg coming out to pull her down. She leaned in get him on the ground and vulnerable, and they did alright, despite the fact that she’d never intended on going down with him. She rolled off him immediately upon touch down, making a clawing motion with her left hand to have more dark ‘rope’ matter spring from the ground around Raito, primarily aiming to tie him down. “You stupid bastard,” she groaned, clutching her temple as the early signs of a headache began, simultaneously sending out her elbow to catch him in the ribs.
