Lydia crossed the marble flooring outside of an old bakery. The fountain was sparkling in the moonlight and children were running through the doors with cupcakes in their hands. This was the relaxing hour of the day...the day where it was almost impossible to notice her abnormal features. In the dark, she felt human.
The world is a quiet place. She thought to herself. Its funny how things change when theres no sun.
She faced the fountain and watched the water create ripples as the fireflys played cheerfully before her.

Rai sat across the plaza admiring the way the moon glinted off the water while taking the occasional sip of his drink. He wasn't particularly fond of alcohol, and viewed it as something that dulled the senses and turned even the most likable person into an ornery bastard. Even so, the occasional brandy or wine wasn't too bad in times of peace. He enjoyed nights like this one. Not too hot or too cold, but just right. They were few in the sky palace. Sometimes it was nice to visit the ground and walk among the other races. He wasn't like most of his kind and looked down upon surface dwellers. To him it was all about potential and what you can be, not where you came from. It was an outlook he wished the rest of his people shared with him. What they did was nothing more than willful ignorance and arrogance. His vacation was as much a scouting mission as it was a retreat from the ridged discipline the Angelic Army imposed upon its soldiers.
He had given his officers some free time after freshly arriving to the city that afternoon. It had been a long journey and he had reasoned they needed the break. Nobody liked being vigilant at all times. He never cared much for the presence of others though and preferred his solitude. He was a general after all, and generals aren't known for being jovial. Still, loneliness had been all he'd known until Gracia had come along...
"This drink is starting to get to my head. No time to be melancholy. I'm on vacation for the Light's sake." He finished off his drink, leaving a few silver coins to pay for his drink. He walked into the moonlight and let it dance along his wings and hair, relishing the feeling of the wind rushing past him. There were few times he felt such peace without being in private with Gracia. It was never romantic but always somehow soothing. When he finally opened his eyes he noticed a little girl standing alone in front of what appeared to be a run down bakery or some sort of old confectionery shop all alone. Deciding he might as well do some sort of good deed this day. He decided he should see if she was lost and needed help. Crossing the plaza, he hummed a gentle tune he remembered his mother humming to him while he had attended the academy. It never did feel like he got enough time with her.
"Hello little girl. Are you lost? Do you need help or anything. You don't need to be afraid."

Lydia didn't turn to look at the man next to her. She didn't exactly feel like he was important enough to talk to. She had her own things to worry about and her own voices to listen too in her mechanical mind.
Her hands crossed her back as she rocked back and forth on her feet. The reflection of her face glimmered in the water. She liked the way she looked at night. Flawless but human like. Though her body was small, she looked more mature and lady like. Since she couldn't grow for real, she thought about imagining it for a while.
She thought about her journey ahead of her. She wanted to find her safe place; her sanctuary and a place to call home. If she could live that normal life she always wanted, then she could be a part of this world.

Zane walked down towards the fountain tossing around a very expensive looking pocket watch. "Hmm......I'm glad I got this thing and all...." he said to himself, "But I wish it was somewhat more of a challenge to get." He sighed and put it away. "Oh well. Humans are usually easy to steal from anyway..."
He stopped when he reached the fountain. "Don't see many quite like this....." he said. He didn't pay no mind to the other two there. He took back out the watch. "So, now what do I do with this thing?" He thought about how much he could get for it as he looked at the watch.

The little girl completely ignored him as she strolled up to the fountain and looked at her reflection in the water. She had flatly refused his help and thats where it ended. Even so, the calculating and meticulousness that made him such a well known general kicked in. Little girls didn't normally act that way. In the moonlight it was hard to determine just what she was, but it was certain she wasn't lost. There was little room for discussion after that. He needed to know who she was and what. She might prove useful after all.
"Staring at the water I see. I've always wondered though. The reflection always shows only what can be seen on its surface. What would the water do if it wanted to show itself and not the reflection? It is such a mysterious thing. It is always so hard to determine water's true nature let alone see it for what it actually is, and not what it shows you."

Lydia felt a chill run down her spine but she didn't show it. She didn't feel like being bothered at the moment. "What do you want with me?" She asked calmly. Lydia felt that she was being followed all this time. Maybe this man was the one who had been watching her?
She saw a glint at the corner of her eye from the watch another being was carrying.
"I'm not the girl your looking for." She continued.

"Me? I am simply talking aloud to myself. Think nothing of it. I'm not looking for anyone in particular though, just someone to pass the time with. I never find much time to talk, at least not where I come from. I was just looking for someone to enjoy this beautiful evening with. Would you care to join me?"
Rai was greatly curious about this girl. Hardly anyone is ever this guarded. Something was going on and Rai was going to find out what it was. He was a hardheaded, curious fool. If he wanted to know something and decided it was his business he would not let it go until his curiosity died down, or was satisfied. It would also be notable that the former had yet to happen. Something strange was going on and she was the source and that's all he needed to know.

Lydia looked disgusted. She wasn't the type of person to make friends. "I'm sorry but I fly solo." She said in her unusually calm yet irritated voice. "Besides, this evening is just like the others. Theres nothing beautiful about it." She shrugged, her hands hugging her body.

Zane started to notice the other two at the fountain. He looked over to see a boy and a girl. The girl looked annoyed. He wasn't about to do anything though. He tried to see if they had anything worth stealing, but he couldn't tell. He then started thinking about whether or not he should try and see if they did. Though he figured he should wait until one of them was alone.

My this one was a special one. Well, if she wished to be alone he'd grant her that favor. It was never good to outstay ones welcome. Still, he couldn't shake the feeling there was something odd about her. Better stick a tracker on her. I can follow her later and see just what is going on here. Good thing we'll be in the capital for the next couple days. Rai reached into his pocket and grabbed a two small pieces of metal. He then polarized them using his magic to attract each other of a long distance, kind of like a super magnet. He could always find out where she was by the tug on the magnet. During the process though he couldn't help but notice there was something large and metallic very very near him. He shook it off as it just being the fountains plumbing system.
"Well. Since my offer has been so flatly refused I shall take my leave then. Maybe I will meet you again one of these nights and I can try again." He patted her shoulder as he leaned in and gave her his most courteous smile, and ever so slightly slipped the magnet into her dress. He never noticed it stick straight to her shoulder. "Fare evening to you little miss."
Rai walked off headed back to the inn his soldiers were stationed at. He had a meeting with the king in the afternoon tomorrow and needed to get his rest and make sure his soldiers were behaving. They always got out of control when he wasn't watching them. They are so much like little children sometimes.

Lydia thought this man was very curious. She was glad that he had left her alone. She hoped no one else would bother her. Maybe there was a little spot somewhere around this town where she could feel at ease. Even though night time was a time she could unwind and become less noticeable as an android, there were still chances that she would be caught by wanderers that were unwelcome.

Rai finally returned to his inn. He wasn't amazed when he walked in and found Guts passed out on the table with Lianth and Jestor arm-wrestling with Kuma. Gracia was sitting in the middle of it all looking utterly helpless since she could never keep them under control without Rai around to enforce the peace.
"Just what do you think you sorry excuses for Lieutenants are doing?" Jestor and Kuma immediately looked like two little kids who just got caught stealing cookies while Gracia sighed with relief. Guts and Lianth remained passed out on their table. "You people really need to learn to behave when I'm not around. You're going to give me a bad name. Get to your rooms we got an important meeting tomorrow. Jestor, Kuma, carry Guts upstairs with you. I'll take Lianth." Jestor and Kuma mumbled to themselves while they carried Guts up the stairs to their room while Rai gently picked up Lianth and carried her to the girl's room.
"Gracia, make sure to get me filled in for tomorrow's meeting in the morning. I want to cover procedures and clothing as well the level of politeness I need to show and any manners I need to observe. Also, I'd like to talk to you about something that caught my eye tonight and get your opinion." Gracia simply smiled and bobbed her head. That was better than any promise to him. Rai gave her a light peck on her forehead then headed back to his room. It was best to get some sleep before greeting royalty.

Zane watched as the man left. And placed something on her. He noticed since he was used to doing such subtle movements. He wondered what it was. He started off towards the girl, throwing the watch and catching it as he walked.
When he approached the girl he said, "That guy put something on you,"He then continued on his way.

Lydia glanced at the man walking by. She didn't understand why so many people were bugging her today and at the same time, she knew that the other being had put something on her shoulder. She may be an android but she had the feelings and sensitivity of a normal human.
She grabbed at her shoulder and tore off what looked like a magnet. The tear left a large mark on her skin. She may look like a young girl but her strength is unexplainably powerful. She dropped it in the fountain and watched it spark with madness. Then walked along, the way the other stranger had went.
It was warm that night and the air had a misty feel to it. She came across a garden that was poorly taken care of. It was the slums garden. Everyone here was too lazy to take care of a beautiful garden. She hid herself near a bush next to a sewer and at that point heard a rustle in the bushes. Lydia became alert and ready.

Zane couldn't help but look over to see what she took off of her shoulder. He watched it spark like crazy in the fountain. What the hell was put on her shoulder? he thought as he started again on his way. The girl seemed to be going this way as well behind him though he didn't think much of it. He kept tossing the watch in the air and catching it since he was quite bored.
Though soon he noticed the girl had stopped. Curious, he went over and must have rustled a bush or two. Since when he got over the girl seemed ready to attack."Whoah, calm down there," he said calmly. He twriled the watch around his finger. "What are you doing stopping over here?" he asked.
